My hunger pains are louder than the music playing in the background.

I'm STARVING and b/c I haven't gone to the grocery store in over a week there's not much to choose from. My choices are mac and cheese, eggs - which I ate for b'fast, so I'm not up for a repeat, and canned soup. Don't get me wrong, I love Amy's organic vegetable soup, but not only did I eat it for dinner last night, it's also 80 degrees outside and the thought of hot, steamy soup sounds about as fun as walking to the subway in 4" heels right now. So, while waiting for my afternoon festivities to commence, I've ordered some nice cold sushi and am eagerly sitting next to the intercom waiting for that tell tale buzzer to bleep out that my food has arrived.

Went today and got my haircut. It's seriously one of my favorite things to do. And the smell of a salon is so intoxicatingly (not sure if that's a word or not) fun. When I was younger I use to tell my mom I wanted to be a beautician so I could work in a salon only b/c of the way it smelled. And the shampoo girl today was fantastic! Laugh if you must, but those of you that understand what I'm talking about will be able to appreciate a really good shampoo. That's half the fun of getting your hair done!

So as I sit and wait for - THERE'S THE BUZZER!!

10 minutes later . . . . .

Tummy is much better now. And that was delicious. Not sure if I was just that hungry or if it really was that good, but that was some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, literally. And good edamame as well. Of course b/c I was so hungry I ordered enough for dinner as well. Oh well, this is why I never go grocery shopping hungry b/c I walk out with enough to feed the homeless for a week.

Rockin' the ballot

So tonight was the State of the Union address and once again, my patience gave out around 45 minutes into it. Oh well, at least I made an attempt. I'm excited for tomorrow night's primary in Florida. I can honestly say at this point I have not a clue who is going to win. I do feel as though Giuliani is going down in flames and fast. Other than that, things are going great. I really can't complain. Of course, we can all use more money, sleep, vacation, the usual, but other than that I really have nothing I can complain about. With that being said, I love my job more and more every week. Each day is like a little mini present because literally I never know what I'm going to get to do that day. Like today, for instance, my first tour was canceled (love canceled tours!!)
and I thought I was stuck for the day in the office answering phones. Then little Miss Emilie came to my rescue and had myself and another page go handout last minute standby tickets for Conan. At first I was kind of dreading it b/c I hate bugging people when all they want to do is eat their lunch/shop in private, but I jumped at the chance to go walk around outside and get some fresh air. Surprisingly enough, it turned out to be a cool little adventure. To see the looks on people's faces when I told them I had tickets to the show was priceless. One group of ladies from who knows where was elated and could not contain their excitement. Even though they weren't guaranteed (as they were standby only, but had a really, really good chance of getting in) they still were over the moon excited. And yes, for those of you wonder what "over the moon" means, don't ask - it's just something we southern people say.

Where's the snow?

So I'm convinced that when the local weather people predict large amounts of snow and I happen to have the day off, it will not snow. It's going to be the day I work 16 hours and have to be at work super early that the snow will hit, making my commute that much more difficult. Of course it will not happen on my day off, because if it did that would mean I could go play in the park and make snow angels and snowmen. Oh well.

Speaking of commutes, I've come to notice that people act very strangely when they walk around/use public transportation. I've come to thoroughly dislike the people that step into the train before everyone getting off has gotten off, making it that much more difficult to exit the train. Also, the people that step on and don't move in - they stand right at the door making you go around them, which is not always the easiest thing, especially when they or you have multiple bags to carry on/off. I've noticed people get weird walking around the city as well. I haven't figured out the people that see you walking towards them for the entire block, and they are clearly on one side of the sidewalk and you are on the other, but when you get about 5 feet in front of them, they suddenly decide they must pass you on the other side of the sidewalk and cut you off at the very last second just to walk on the other side of the sidewalk. Seriously, can they not wait until you've passed to change sides of the sidewalk? These people are insane! Oh well, it just makes walking on the streets of New York that much more interesting because you have to people dodge constantly.

I'm glad it's finally cold again. I was not down with the little heat wave we had. It's January - not June. It's suppose to be cool enough to at least require a light jacket, not warm enough for flip flops. Although I did get a good laugh at the people who continued to thoroughly bundle up in complete fur, scarves, gloves, and hats when it was 57 degrees outside. Don't get me wrong, those days are perfect because it's cool enough outside that you can walk to work and not be cold or hot and you get to work with little to no sweat involved. Thankfully, New York summers are hot, but don't start getting unbearable until late June/July instead of April like Tennessee. That is one of the few things I don't miss about the south. Unfortunately the humidity is still here, but oh well. At least we have more snow, or at least that's what I'm told. Only time will tell on that one.
